Below are resources to help you find hotel and lodging availability, assistance from our Visitor Information Centers and other important emergency resources. If you are concerned about your travel plans for existing reservations, contact your hotel directly.

Hotels & Lodging 

In partnership with Expedia, Georgia Tourism emergency lodging and hotels page has been activated to provide travelers and evacuees with real-time accommodations availability. It can be accessed at www.expedia.com/Georgia.

Campsites & Cabins

Mistletoe State Park

Evacuees and their pets are welcome in Georgia’s State Parks. Park pass and pet fees will be waived for evacuees. Some stables are available for horses. Campsites and cottages are available at regular rates, and “dry camping” is free during this emergency event.

Strom Thurmond Lake Project

Strom Thurmond Lake Project is projected to have camping availability for the next few weeks. Dorian evacuees are welcome to make reservations by calling 877-444-6777. If you require special accommodations, contact them directly at 864-333-1100.

USACE campgrounds at Thurmond Project (as of 9-4-19 at 10:30 a.m.)

  • Winfield Campground (Appling, GA) – 40 sites available
  • Petersburg Campground (Appling, GA) – 60 sites available
  • Ridge Road Campground (Leah, GA) – 50 sites available

America the Beautiful Pass holders who can present their pass and ID may save 50% off camping fees. (Disability and senior passes only)

Shelter

The following Red Cross Evacuation Shelter is open in Columbia County (as of 9-3-19 at 10:00 a.m.)

Red Cross shelter locations may change daily. Updated Red Cross information is available at www.redcross.org/shelter, by calling 1-800-RED CROSS or by downloading the free Red Cross Emergency App for real-time weather alerts, open shelters and expert advice on hurricanes.

Real-time Traffic Information

State officials have begun contraflow of traffic on I-16 starting at I-95 near Savannah and north to U.S. 441 in Dublin, a distance of 125 miles. All I-16 lanes will allow only westbound traffic.
