USA BMX Gold Cup Southeast Regional Championship Coming to Blanchard Woods Park
Blanchard Woods BMX track in Evans will be the site of the USA BMX Gold Cup Southeast Regional Championship this weekend. The event, which will be held September 24-26, is expected to attract nearly 500 athletes and an additional 1,000 spectators.
“We are honored USA BMX has chosen to bring this prestigious event back to Columbia County for a third time”, said Columbia County Convention and Visitors Bureau executive director, Shelly Blackburn. “The Gold Cup Regional Championship will generate excellent exposure for the BMX track, and with over 1,000 people projected to visit the area for the competition, the economic impact should be tremendous.”
According to USA BMX officials, one racer typically is accompanied by at least three other individuals. Based on conservative estimates, the Columbia County race is expected to generate 1,000 hotel room nights and $500,000 in economic impact.
