If you’re planning a visit to the Columbia County area or live nearby then you might have heard or known of Fort Gordon. But did you know this post isn’t just for those living on post? That’s right, non-military visitors with proper registration are also welcomed to enjoy a multitude of activities located on the post.

To obtain your pass just fill out the quick and easy registration form online or stop by the Fort Gordon Visitor’s Center at the main gate to fill the form out in person. Once you’ve received the green light, it’s time to start weighing your options of which fun activities to start with first! Luckily, we’ve got you covered to help plan out a fun-filled day at Fort Gordon.

Disc and Golf Courses

Columbia County is well-known for the beautiful and well-kept golf courses throughout the area and Gordon Lakes Golf Course is no exception. Designed by world-renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones, this course provides stunning views and a championship level experience. With a 27-hole layout features 81 bunkers and cutouts between some gorgeous Georgia Pines. Six of the course’s holes are played around a 20-acre lake with Mr. Jones’ famous “island hole” taking center stage. Gordon Lakes Golf Course also includes a practice range, practice putting and chipping greens. Golf club rentals, pull carts, lockers, electric carts and a well-stocked pro shop are also available to guests.

If you’ve ever tried disc golf or are curious about trying it out, then we definitely recommend checking out the Fort Gordon Disc Golf Course located at Wainwright Circle. Played just like traditional golf, but with flying discs instead of balls and clubs. Players throw from the designated tee area to a metal basket. 1 point or stroke is counted each time the disc is thrown. The layout’s suggested route and par for each hole is also displayed at each tee box making for easy navigation.

Even More Outdoor Fun

Apart from hitting the golf and disc golf courses respectively, there are a host of other outdoor activities available at Fort Gordon. The Tactical Advantage Sportsman's Complex is a great place to start with enough outdoor fun that you may need a few days to experience all of it! TASC is home to the Fort Gordon Outdoor Recreation Program and offers activities ranging from skeet and trap shooting to archery courses and fishing tournaments for adults and kids alike.

For a real treat, we recommend heading over to the Hilltop Riding Stable where guests can experience over 250 acres of horseback riding trails. Pony rides and trail rides are offered throughout the year and make an excellent addition to birthday celebrations or a group outing.

The park is filled with fun and relaxing features including a 3-story water slide, bell-shaped kiddie pool, a 3-tiered deck for sunbathing and so much more. Make a day of it and spend some quality time enjoying the sunshine!

The local Fort Gordon Dinner Theatre offers Broadway-style musicals, comedies, mysteries and special attractions. Pair that with a delicious buffet meal, top-notch customer service, and a beautiful state-of-the-art facility and you will be in for a one-of-a-kind experience.
