Get ready, Columbia County! We are thrilled to welcome the best young anglers in the country to Clarks Hill Lake this summer for two exciting national championship events. Visit Columbia County is proud to host the Bassmaster Junior National Championship on July 25-26, followed by the Strike King Bassmaster High School National Championship from July 31-August 2. Both tournaments will take place at Wildwood Park, with daily takeoffs and weigh-ins happening at this premier fishing destination.
The Future of Fishing Takes the Stage
These prestigious tournaments will feature the top junior and high school anglers from across the nation. The Junior Series National Championship will showcase competitors in grades 2-8, while the High School Series National Championship will highlight talented anglers in grades 8-12. The road to the championship began last month on the Harris Chain in Leesburg, Florida, and now, young anglers are vying for their spots through regular-season events leading up to the grand finale here in Columbia County.
A Community-Wide Celebration
Hosting this championship is an honor for Columbia County, and we can’t wait to showcase our stunning natural beauty, exceptional hospitality, and thriving local businesses to anglers, their families, and fishing fans from across the country. Shelly Blackburn, Executive Director of Visit Columbia County, shared her excitement:
“We are thrilled to welcome the Bassmaster High School/ Junior Series Championship to Clarks Hill Lake. Hosting this prestigious event is an incredible honor, and we are excited to showcase the natural beauty and hospitality of Columbia County to anglers and spectators alike. The economic impact of this championship will be significant, bringing numerous visitors and opportunities to our local businesses and residents. We look forward to a successful and memorable event that highlights the very best of what our community has to offer.”
Clarks Hill Lake: A Proven Bass Fishing Destination
Clarks Hill Lake has a long-standing reputation as an outstanding fishery, making it the perfect location for these championships. Just last month, Chase Clarke dominated the St. Croix Bassmaster Open presented by SEVIIN, securing a two-day total of 47 pounds, 7 ounces. His expert execution of a big-bass pattern resulted in multiple 6-pound largemouth catches, reinforcing Clarks Hill’s status as a top-tier bass fishing destination.
The Excitement Continues
Glenn Cale, B.A.S.S. Tournament Manager for the College, High School, and Junior Series, is eager to bring these events to Columbia County:
“I’m super-excited about these National Championships. I’m excited about sharing the stage with the best student anglers in the country and having this event on the outstanding fishery that is Clarks Hill Lake.”
