Columbia County's Parks and Recreation facilities will be put to full use this weekend with USSSA Baseball, Opening Day in the CSRA tournament. The tournament is sold out, with 113 teams ready to get back on the diamond.
"We are excited to host Gameday USSSA in Columbia County", said Dennis Hodges, Parks and Recreation Manager for Columbia County. "In recent years, we’ve made it a priority to strengthen relationships with sports sanctioning organizations to bring large events to the area. In addition to the economic benefits of hosting these events, it also provides a great opportunity for our local teams to play in major tournaments close to home."
Games will take place Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7 at Patriots Park in Grovetown and Riverside Park in Evans. Teams from Macon, GA, Charleston, SC, Myrtle Beach, SC, Charlotte, NC and all over the southeast are expected to roll into Columbia County for the tournament.
"We are thrilled to welcome youth teams to Columbia County", said Shelly Blackburn, Executive Director of the Columbia County Convention and Visitors Bureau. "Many of our local hospitality businesses are equally as excited as they rely heavily on the visitors that sporting events bring to the county."
Games begin Saturday morning at 9:00 AM.
